Saddle Trial Policy

Online saddle trials will be charged in full up front. You will have five (5) days from the date the saddle is delivered to try it. It is your responsibility to notify us on or by the fifth day if you will be returning the saddle. Please feel free to contact with any questions.

It is our pleasure to allow our valued customers the opportunity to take saddles out on trial for a specific time period. To try used saddle, add saddle to shopping cart and complete the purchasing process.  Please note that our saddles go out on trial.  If saddle is not available when you place your order, you will be wait-listed.

Shipping is non-refundable. We are unable to ship outside the contiguous 48 states.  You will have five (5) days from the date of delivery to try the saddle. We ask that you contact the store by phone or text at 651-426-0831, or e-mail us at customercare@stcroixsaddlery.com, to let us know if you will be keeping or returning the saddle.

Care of Saddles. You are responsible for the care and safety of the saddle during your trial period. Saddles must be returned in the same condition as when they left the store.

We ask that you take the following steps to ensure the careful care of the saddle.

  1. Please do not use any cleaning, conditioning or oil products on the saddle.
  2. Please be sure the billet guards (if any) cover the girth buckles, and use a clean saddle pad under your saddle when riding.
  3. Protect the saddle from stirrup leather marks by wrapping the leathers in a sock with the feet cut out, or wrap well with plastic wrap.
  4. Keep the saddle covered and protected, except when test riding. Avoid storing it in your car or anywhere unsafe.

Damage/Wear. Saddles and any accompanying accessories must be returned in the same condition as when they left the store, and new saddles must still be able to be sold as “new.” If we determine that the saddle incurred damage while in your care (excessive wear on the flaps, rain spots, scratches or dents in the leather, dings in the pommel or cantle, or other marks that reduce the saddle’s value), you will be charged a minimum surcharge of 10% of the saddle’s price to offset such damage. If the damage reduces the saddle’s value by more than 10%, you may be charged the actual amount of the saddle’s loss in value, as determined by our management in our sole and final discretion.

If you need to return the saddle on trial, you are responsible for return shipping. Please use UPS or FedEx for tracking purposes. We also recommend that you insure the saddle using its price for the declared value when returning. Please avoid using packing peanuts.

Returned saddle refunds will be processed after we have received the saddle back in the store. Please note that shipping is non-refundable.

PLEASE NOTE:
Please also note that foam and wool types vary considerably, and materials may conform to the shape of the horses' backs on which they were previously used. Wool reflocking is a subjective art, and flocking types, consistencies and amounts may differ depending on the preferences of each saddle maker and saddle fitter.

We do our best to provide a good representation of each saddle's condition by taking several photos, but no photo can be quite as accurate as real life. Please feel free to ask for more photos or ask us questions, but realize that subjective answers and assessment of condition may vary even between staff members.

Used saddles are sold AS IS and we make no warranties or representations as to their merchantability or fitness for any particular purpose.
